Ruth B. Williams

Ruth B. “Ruthie” Williams, 79, passed from her earthly home into her heavenly home with her Lord and Savior on Monday, April 30th, 2012. Born on July 19th, 1932 in Endicott, Ruthie was the daughter of Virgil and Mildred (Bronson) Every. In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her husband of 52 years, Robert M. Williams, Jr. on May 25, 2005. Ruthie is survived by her beloved children and their spouses: Richard and Donna Williams, Bonnie and Gary Kimball, Barbara and Richard Edwards, Brenda Williams and Andrew Gradel, Kenneth and Sandy Williams; she embraced her cherished grandchildren: Jeremy, Samantha, Garrett, Aleah and Ryan Williams, Emily Edwards, Brittney Gradel and her great-grandchildren, Braeden and Payton. Also surviving are her brother Ralph Every, sister in law, Mary Lou Kariam, several nieces and nephews. Her canine companion, Smokey, is missing her too. Ruthie was a graduate of Newark Valley High School class of 1950 and was a faithful and hard working employee of IBM for 27 years. She and Bob were strong supporters of the OFA School Marching Band (Sound Support) and the Grenadiers Drum & Bugle Corp., Ruthie will be remembered for her infectious personality; her beautiful hand painted and hand drawn works of art, many of which have been displayed throughout the Southern Tier; lending her lovely voice to the Ti-Awagha Players for several productions; as well as sharing her talents with family and friends on the piano and violin. She also enjoyed gardening, canning the fruits of her labors, growing flowers, refinishing furniture, chair caning and working on the family farm. Most of all she will be remembered for her determined strength and her commitment to provide for her family. Ruth’s family will receive friends on Thursday from 4-8 PM at the MacPherson Funeral Home, 5 Whig St., Newark Valley. Services and burial will be private in Hope Cemetery, Newark Valley.
