Gerald T Malarkey

Gerald T. Malarkey of Newark Valley No farewell words were spoken, no time to say good-bye…You were gone before we knew it and only God knows why. Early on the morning of April 9th, 2012, our beloved Jerry passed away. He left us with many wonderful memories but will be so very much missed by his loving wife and best friend of 19 years, Jennifer (Raymond) Malarkey and his cherished daughters Kiera and Kayla. Also missing him are his brothers Edward (Terry) and John (Kristy) Malarkey and sister Pat Keener, his mother-in-law, Becky Allen, father-in-law, Gary Raymond, brothers-in-law Daniel, Patrick and Kenny (Jennifer) Raymond, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins as well as many dear friends among them Jackie and Dennis Wright.

Jerry was born on August 29, 1963 in Florida, a son of the late Robert P. and Jean A. Malarkey. He was a graduate of Northeast Bradford High School and while living in that area, he attended The United Methodist Church in Rome, PA and was active in the choir. He was an employee of Williams Oil Co, in Athens, PA and manager of Dandy Mini Mart in Slaterville. His hobbies included: boating, fishing, golfing reading and working at home in his wood shop. He was also a Sci-Fi Fan, a member of the Newark Valley Historical Society and a ‘ Super Dance Dad’.

A time of visitation will be held at the MacPherson Funeral Home, 5 Whig St., Newark Valley on Thursday from 4-8 PM and a Funeral Service and Celebration of Jerry’s Life will be held there on Friday at 11 am. Pastor Les Aylesworth will officiate followed by burial in Hope Cemetery. For those wishing to honor Jerry’s memory in the form of a donation, a fund for his daughters is being established at NBT Bank, PO Box 158, Newark Valley, NY 13811.
